Technology brief
Solar-Graphene Battery is a solar thermal system that significantly improves the efficiency of solar water heating by replacing traditional metal-based collectors with a unique water-graphene mixture.
The challenge
Residential and industrial hot water production; single-family homes, hotels, schools, hospitals, and industrial sites; particularly suited to regions with moderate to low solar irradiance. Compatible with retrofit or new installations.
ARBOK solution
Solar-Graphene Battery is a solar thermal system that significantly improves the efficiency of solar water heating by replacing traditional metal-based collectors with a unique water-graphene mixture. Unlike conventional systems that lose heat through metal conduction and piping, Arbok's technology directly heats the water thanks to a stable dispersion of graphene-like TEG (thermo-expanded graphite) particles in the fluid. This enables real-world thermal efficiency of up to 95%, compared with the 40–50% typical of standard systems. The solution is designed for both residential and industrial hot water production, especially in regions with moderate to low solar irradiance, and is scalable from single-family homes to hotels, schools, hospitals, and industrial sites.
Sunlight is converted directly into heat in the liquid phase by a stable, non-settling dispersion of thermo-expanded graphite (TEG) particles in water, circulating through transparent polymer or glass tubes. This removes the need for copper or aluminium heat exchangers and the associated conduction losses.
Market and application
Residential and industrial hot water production from single-family homes to hotels, schools, hospitals, and industrial sites, especially in regions with moderate to low solar irradiance. Qualifies for carbon credit incentives at ~2 tons CO₂ offset per home per year.
Family home with a 4 m² panel: heat output ~6,600 kWh/year; savings ~€1,650/year at €0.25/kWh; energy bills for water heating cut by 50–70%. Investment payback ~3 years with Arbok graphene versus ~9 years for traditional panels.
Use cases
Residential and industrial hot water production; single-family homes, hotels, schools, hospitals, and industrial sites; particularly suited to regions with moderate to low solar irradiance. Compatible with retrofit or new installations.
Retrofit into existing panels by replacing the copper loop, or installed new. R&D complete; ready for mass manufacturing. Minimal maintenance with no corrosion and no antifreeze.
