⚫ New preprint: Coke to Work — Turning Venezuelan Petroleum Coke Stockpiles into Metals, Fuel and Graphite Composite
Between 15 and 30 million tonnes of petroleum coke lie in open piles in Venezuela, with no local use and no profitable export. The preprint treats the stockpile as feedstock: cleaning by leaching removes vanadium and nickel as separate concentrates and sulfur for sulfuric acid and fertilizer; the cleaned coke goes into fuel briquettes for local kilns, and into graphite and a conductive composite with TEGA for electrodes and batteries. Three products from one mountain — volume from briquettes, price from graphite and the composite, metal from vanadium and nickel. The preprint specifies three development series on real coke from the Orinoco piles and the Jose port.
