Overview
AgroVolt is an advanced modular waste-to-energy platform specifically engineered for the transformation of livestock manure — primarily pig and chicken — into electricity, clean irrigation-grade water, and a high-calorific-value solid fuel/fertilizer product called Dry Organic Chips (D.O.C.). The system operates on a closed-loop principle, ensuring zero solid waste and minimal emissions. It combines electrochemical energy generation via proprietary galvanic cells with vacuum-based post-processing via the Arbok-Ammonia module, enabling efficient and sustainable nutrient recycling. Conventional manure management systems (lagoons, compost pits, biogas digesters) often fail to capture full energetic potential, leave pathogenic residue, or require chemical inputs; AgroVolt resolves these shortcomings by addressing waste at its chemical core through electrochemical disruption and recovery.
Applications
Installed directly on livestock farms, scaled from 400 m³ per cycle and up, with full-cycle processing approximately every 48 hours. Modularity allows replication across decentralized agricultural operations. Outputs serve as both environmental mitigation and commercial profit drivers.
Operating Principle
Galvanic energy modules. Each AgroVolt unit includes five galvanic modules that harness the electrochemical potential difference between acidic and alkaline waste streams. Pig manure (typically pH ~5.0) and chicken manure (alkaline, often pH ~8.0+) are stored in separate big-bag reservoirs of 40 m³ each as reactive source materials. Proprietary graphene-based electrodes provide high conductivity and chemical resistance, facilitating continuous redox reactions under slurry agitation. A salt bridge matrix of semi-permeable ionic channels balances charge between acidic and alkaline chambers without mixing contents, ensuring steady ion migration and voltage stability. A gas management system captures methane (CH₄), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), ammonia (NH₃), and carbon dioxide (CO₂) released during electrochemical breakdown; methane is diverted to an integrated combustion engine contributing additional electricity at ~35% efficiency, and other gases are neutralized or repurposed. Motorized stirrers maintain homogeneous slurry density and prevent sedimentation.
Arbok-Ammonia post-processing. After electrochemical treatment, the digestate — now chemically neutral and pathogen-free — is transferred to the Arbok-Ammonia chamber, where low-pressure evaporation and differential distillation separate ammonium-rich water vapor from solid residues. The entire cycle runs without added reagents or microbial cultures.

Architecture and Components
5× galvanic modules, each with big-bag reactor interfaces, salt bridges, and graphene electrodes; methane generator recovering and combusting biogas from the electrochemical chambers; centralized PLC-based control unit with telemetry and pH, gas, and temperature sensors; heavy-duty slurry agitators for each chamber; Arbok-Ammonia unit comprising vacuum chamber, condenser, D.O.C. press, and filter stack; weatherproof modular housing (containerized or shed-mounted).
Advantages
No use of chemicals or microbial cultures — entirely physical-electrochemical transformation. Completely closed loop with no toxic residue, emissions, or waste streams. Multi-product output of energy, water, and fertilizer in a single process. Pathogen elimination — neutralizes helminths, viruses, and bacteria. Carbon impact — avoids methane emission, roughly 28× stronger than CO₂. On-site regeneration enabling local circular economy and off-grid operation. Climate resilience — tolerates a wide temperature range and variable waste inputs.

Deployment & Operation
Installed directly on livestock farms; ~120 m² operational area; containerized or shed-mounted modular frame. Requires site preparation, big-bag logistics, and modular placement. Full processing cycle approximately every 48 hours. High number of subsystems requires technical oversight and periodic maintenance.
TRL
TRL 6–7 — Validated in controlled test cycles and scaled prototype. Pre-industrial demonstrator in development. Key subsystems field-tested.
Market Potential
Decentralized livestock operations facing manure disposal costs and fertilizer expense. Annual savings: elimination of external fertilizer purchase (~€400–700/ha annually) and reduced waste disposal fees (€60–120/ton in regulated regions). Revenue channels: internal electricity offset or grid sale; organic fertilizer sales (D.O.C. at $80–120/ton); carbon credits from methane offset and soil carbon sequestration.
Typical Project Economics
CAPEX: $750,000–$1.3M depending on configuration, containerization, and automation level. OPEX: low — driven by electricity for mixing and pumps, labor, and minimal maintenance. ROI: 1.0–4.8 years depending on farm size, regulatory incentives, and sales strategy.
Risk Factors
Input dependency: requires consistent manure supply of both acidic (pig) and alkaline (chicken) origin for optimal performance. System complexity: high number of subsystems requires technical oversight and periodic maintenance. Upfront investment: CAPEX may exceed the budget of smallholder farms without subsidies. Regulatory approval: water and fertilizer reuse may require local certification. Installation logistics: site preparation, big-bag logistics, and modular placement required.
