Overview
Caked mineral fertilizers and expired, deregistered, or off-spec pesticides and herbicides sitting in warehouses today are either incinerated at a hazardous-waste facility or landfilled — destroying an active ingredient that was already paid for. ARBOK-REVIVE dissolves the caked or degraded product in water and processes the solution through the ARBOK-VC platform under deep vacuum at ambient temperature: water evaporates and returns to the loop, the active ingredient concentrates back to working strength, and non-active ballast (caking agents, inert fillers, container-rinse solids) separates out as a dry residue. The chemical is not destroyed — its physical form, not its composition, was the problem, and reactivation returns it to use.
Applications
Feedstock: caked or off-spec mineral fertilizer, expired or deregistered pesticides and herbicides, container rinse water from agrochemical packaging lines, material collected through state pesticide take-back programs (Clean Sweep and equivalents). Output: reactivated agrochemical at working concentration, returned to the original distributor or manufacturer; a dry non-active residue as a separate stream. End uses: re-sale or re-use of the reactivated product; disposal of the much smaller residue fraction only.
Operating Principle
The caked or expired chemical is dissolved in water to form a working solution, then fed into the ARBOK-VC unit under deep vacuum. Water reaches its boiling point at ambient temperature and evaporates, condensing separately for return to the process. Because the active ingredient is not thermally or chemically degraded during this ambient-temperature phase separation, it concentrates back toward its original working strength as the water is removed. Non-active solids (caking agents, fillers, packaging-rinse residue) settle out and discharge as a separate dry fraction.
Key Parameters
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Process temperature | ambient — no heat supplied, no heating circuit, no setpoint |
| Separation driver | deep vacuum, not heat |
| Specific energy | under 1 kWh/m³ of stream, net |
| Reagents / membranes | none |
| Outputs | reactivated agrochemical at working strength, dry non-active residue |
Advantages
Restores the working concentration of a caked or degraded agrochemical without thermal or chemical degradation of the active ingredient, in one ambient-temperature unit. It eliminates repurchase of new product, hazmat transport, incineration or landfill fees, and regulatory penalties tied to expired stock. It removes a persistent, ecotoxic waste stream from incineration and landfill entirely, with residue volume a small fraction of the original stock — converting a warehouse liability (expired, deregistered, or off-spec inventory) into a recovered, resalable asset.
Market Potential
FAO estimates several hundred thousand tons of obsolete pesticide stock accumulated worldwide, over 100,000 tons of it in developing countries; disposal of the roughly 20,000 tons held in Africa alone is estimated at over $100 mln. Disposal cost for a ton of obsolete pesticide runs $3,000–5,000. In the US, state Clean Sweep collection programs (46+ states running them) processed a record 280,000 lbs in Michigan alone in 2025, at a $1–3/lb disposal cost. Every agrochemical distributor, fertilizer warehouse, and crop-protection manufacturer holding write-off stock is a candidate.
