ZIGBALLS

ZIGBALLS is a conceptual anti-drone defensive system designed to counter low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles through temporary area denial rather than classical interception.

Overview

ZIGBALLS is a conceptual anti-drone defensive system designed to counter low-altitude unmanned aerial vehicles through temporary area denial rather than classical interception. It is intended for defensive perimeter protection of facilities, field positions, infrastructure, and temporary deployments. Its philosophy is asymmetric: cheap, fast, disposable defense versus expensive drones. ZIGBALLS does not rely on radar tracking, missiles, or electronic warfare complexes; instead it creates a short-lived airborne interference zone that disrupts drone operation using physical, visual, and electromagnetic effects. The system functions as a temporary volumetric shield, not as a weapon.

Applications

Facility perimeter protection; temporary military positions; infrastructure defense (energy, logistics, depots); emergency response against drone swarms; low-infrastructure or contested environments. Effective specifically against small UAVs, FPV drones, and swarm-type low-cost drones; not intended for aircraft, missiles, or high-altitude threats.

Operating Principle

The system deploys a dense cloud of ultra-light airborne elements that remain suspended at low altitude for a limited time. The defensive effect is achieved through a combined non-precision mechanism: physical interference with exposed drone components, visual obscuration and contrast disruption, and electromagnetic disturbance via conductive particles.
