CEYRON

CEYRON is a next-generation thermal and acoustic insulation material designed as a direct replacement for expanded polystyrene (EPS), which has been banned for construction use in the EU since 2020.

Overview

CEYRON is a next-generation thermal and acoustic insulation material designed as a direct replacement for expanded polystyrene (EPS), which has been banned for construction use in the EU since 2020. CEYRON exceeds EPS performance across all key parameters: thermal conductivity, sound absorption, fire resistance, durability, and environmental impact. Fully developed technology; laboratory prototype and material samples exist; certified in Ukraine. Ready for scale-up to industrial production.

Applications

Primary use cases: building exterior insulation (walls, roofs); acoustic isolation (interior/exterior); fire-rated applications; cold-storage facilities; specialty industrial applications.

Industries and users: construction companies, developers, architects, prefab manufacturers, cold-chain logistics.

Scale: modular board/sheet format (standard construction sizes); customizable thickness.

Operating Principle

Advanced composite material combining polymer matrix with specialized fillers/reinforcement to achieve superior thermal, acoustic, and fire properties without EPS drawbacks (brittleness, environmental persistence, fire hazard). Manufacturing process fully developed; scalable to industrial production. Material is durable, non-toxic, recyclable.

Key Parameters

Thermal conductivity: λ < 0.030 W/(m·K) (vs. EPS ~0.035–0.040).

Sound absorption: ≥ 0.8 (across 250–4000 Hz) (vs. EPS 0.5–0.7).

Fire resistance: Euroclass A1 or A2 (vs. EPS flammable).

Compression strength: > 150 kPa (vs. EPS ~100 kPa).

Water absorption: < 2% (vs. EPS 1–3%).

Durability: 50+ years (vs. EPS degradation in 20–30 years outdoors).

Environmental: fully recyclable; zero toxic emissions.

Architecture and Components

Base polymer matrix (proprietary formulation); advanced fillers (mineral/ceramic); reinforcing fibers (optional); additives for fire/UV resistance. Manufactured via standard board/sheet extrusion processes (existing equipment compatible).

Advantages

Technical: superior thermal/acoustic/fire performance vs. all insulation alternatives; durability; moisture resistance; workability (cuts/shapes easily like EPS).

Economic: comparable cost to EPS; eliminates regulatory risk (post-2020 EPS ban in EU); long service life reduces replacement cycles.

Environmental: EU-compliant; zero ozone depletion; recyclable; no environmental persistence.

Strategic: first-to-market in EU post-EPS-ban market; strong demand from builders seeking compliant alternatives.

Integrations

Drop-in replacement for EPS in existing construction workflows; compatible with standard installation methods (adhesives, mechanical fasteners); works with all cladding systems and finishes.

Deployment & Operation

Steps: material sample approval → building/product design integration → manufacturing scale-up → certification/compliance → market launch. Installation identical to EPS. No special training required.

TRL

TRL 4 — Validated in laboratory environment. Material samples produced and tested; certification obtained in Ukraine; ready for scale-up and commercialization. Pending: European (CE) certification, large-scale manufacturing setup, market launch.

Market Potential

EU construction market: ~€600B annually; insulation materials segment ~€30B. EPS ban (2020 onward) creates regulatory demand for compliant alternatives. Global addressable market: €10–15B over 5 years. Strong demand in Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, and post-ban EU construction.

Typical Project Economics

CAPEX (manufacturing setup): €5–10M for 10 000 t/year capacity. OPEX: feedstock + utilities ~€150–200/t. Selling price: €250–350/t (competitive with EPS alternatives). Payback: 3–5 years at full capacity.

Risk Factors

CE certification timeline/cost (EU compliance). Scaling manufacturing without losing material properties. Market acceptance vs. established alternatives (mineral wool, polyurethane foam). Supply chain for specialized additives.
